Lobaric acid is a depsidone metabolite that has been isolated from Stereocaulon lichen species with antioxidant, antiproliferative, antiviral, and enzyme inhibitory activites. (±)15-HEDE is produced by non-enzymatic oxidation of 11,14-eicosadienoic acid. There are no reports in the literature of biological activity associated with (±)15-HEDE.

15(S)-HEDE is produced from 11Z,14Z-eicosadienoic acid by 15-LO. 15(S)-HEDE is an inhibitor of RBL-1 cell 5-LO with an IC50 value of 26 μM.
